Stonecloud Brewing was an idea that was born out of countless days spent getting lost in the mountains of Colorado.
Our name draws inspiration from the huge skies where endless mountains melt into clouds on the horizon. This might seem odd considering the fact that we are smack in the middle of the flatlands in Oklahoma City, but our founder Joel Irby (an Oklahoma native) spent 10 years perfecting his brewing craft at breweries in Boulder, Colorado. The urge eventually hit to open up his own spot, and with Oklahoma City’s recent growth and proximity to family it was the perfect place to make this dream a reality. We opened our doors in the summer of 2017.
At Stonecloud we are committed to quality, consistency and innovation above all else.
In our taproom you’ll find everything from massive barrel aged stouts to aromatic hazy IPAs to (probably) the best Lite lager in Oklahoma, but no matter the style each beer receives that same devotion to quality and consistency. Our innovation is obvious in the hundreds of unique beers we have developed in our relatively short existence. We are particularly proud of our extensive lagering program and our work with barrel and wood aging.
A huge part of our identity is our amazing historic building on the west edge of downtown Oklahoma City.
Built in 1929, the classic brick warehouse spent most of its life housing the Sunshine Laundry Cleaners (the inspiration for our logo) before becoming vacant in the 1980’s. When we first saw the building it had been without a roof for years and had trees growing inside. After several years of work we were able to complete a full historic preservation of the building and put it on the National Historic Registry. Inside you’ll find our production space which houses a 30 bbl brewing system as well as two taproom spaces. Our Lager Lounge specializes in serving lagers traditionally and is set up for private events.
